Why tutoring? I'd like to introduce myself beyond the resume. Hello, my potential employer. My name is Robert, but you can call me Rob. I am 19 years old and enjoy chess, a good book, soccer, and working with hard-working kids. That last bit may seem like I'm trying to otherwise grab your attention (which I am) but there's a good reason for it aside from just promoting my own hobbies. My grandmother is a full time teacher working in the Millard Elementary School system. When I was in Middle School, she'd have me go with her to the after-school tutoring programs to work with her kids. I've been doing it since- but it hasn't stopped with school. I've extended my enthusiasm for working with kids in soccer as well; during high school I would spend a lot of my time working with disabled children in a soccer camp hosted by the Omaha Football Club. All of these things I see as an investment and repaying a debt: I would not be where I am today were it not for individuals who were willing and able to share in their successes and failures which brought to light just how and why they got where they were. Whoever wants their children to do better in the subjects that I've offered, choose me. But know that they will work hard. After determining their strengths and weaknesses, I will have a specific, time-oriented plan which will elicit the best out of them. I plan on sharing their progress with you as well as asking for your opinions as to the path on which I hope to lead them- because you know your children best.
